A LITTLE GEOGRAPHY ...

MUST NUTRITION BE LINKED ONLY TO FOOD PRODUCED IN A SPECIFIC AREA?

The MD is not necessarily linked to products from a specific geographical area. There are a series of rules, in which the results in terms of health are obtained even by consuming food produced in different areas, as long as the same nutritional principles are followed.

We talk about the "Mediterranean Diet" because it was originally studied in this area and because it also involves the overall way of life, not only what is eaten:

  • regular physical activity
  • maintaining an adequate weight
  • not smoking
  • limiting stress

The same results in terms of health have also been demonstrated in oriental populations (e.g. Japanese), whose local habits are similar in style to the MD.

I can therefore follow the MD even using products and dishes from other countries, as long as the nutritional characteristics are the same as those of local products.
